Roxbury Love Story by Rob "ProBlak" Gibbs
This past Monday, the 18th, was Martin Luther King Jr. Day and so I wanted to highlight this stunning MLK-related work. Roxbury Love Story is a mural painted by artist Rob "ProBlak" Gibbs in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston at the location of the former Twelfth Baptist Church where Dr. King once preached. Boston was important in the love story of Dr. King and his wife Coretta Scott King because they met on a blind date in the 1950s while he was a student at Boston University and she was a student at the New England Conservatory of Music.

Poetry
The Hill We Climb, Amanda Gorman
Wednesday was a very historic day in the United States of America; we had a Presidential Inauguration and welcomed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to the White House. Aside from the political happenings, the day was filled with music, readings, fashion and all sorts of entertainment. One moment that caught the attention of the nation and the entire world was Amanda Gorman, the Youth Poet Laureate and Inaugural Poet, reading her poem The Hill We Climb. Though she had been asked to write it before the Capitol riots on January 6th, they greatly impacted her writing and she delivered a poem that inspired unity. I love Gorman's ability to capture an audience's attention with words alone and I can't wait to see what she is going to accomplish next. A video of Gorman reading her full poem is here: https://youtu.be/Wz4YuEvJ3y4.

Fashion
Dr. Jill Biden's Inauguration Evening Ensemble
I'm continuing with the Inauguration trend! There were so many fashion moments made during the Inauguration day that I'd be remiss if I didn't talk in depth about at least one. From Lady Gaga's National Anthem gown to Michelle Obama's deep plum ensemble, there were so many highlights. My favorite, however, was our new First Lady's (Dr. Jill Biden) Inauguration Evening Ensemble, which was designed by Gabriela Hearst and embroidered with miniature federal flowers, representing every state and territory in the USA. It was a beautiful symbol of unity and a stunning work of fashion.

Art & Apps
DailyArt
This week I'm so happy to have two art items on the list for you! For those of you that have been readers since the beginning, you'll know that I'm a huge art history nerd. I just came across this fantastic app, DailyArt, and had to share it. It sends you a daily work of art to look at and learn about with a provided description, interesting facts, and more! It's the perfect app for this time when many art museums are still closed due to the Pandemic.

Television
All Creatures Great and Small
After watching the first two episodes of Masterpiece's All Creatures Great and Small, I know I'm going to enjoy this series. Based on the book series by James Herriot (of which the title is based on the old Anglican hymn All Things Bright and Beautiful), the show follows the story of Herriot himself as a young Veterinarian's assistant in 1930s Yorkshire, England. The scenery is beautiful, the characters are charming and quirky, and the plot is heartwarming and compelling. All Creatures Great and Small can be watched on Channel 5 (UK) and PBS.
