Mac Weekly Highlight 11.22.2020

Happy Monday and welcome back to Mac Claire, your curated destination for all things Music, Arts & Culture! I hope you all had a safe, restful Thanksgiving and are looking forward to everything that the holiday season brings. This week's Mac Weekly Highlight brings music and movies with a touch of Christmas spirit to close out November. Let's check out my picks!

Music & Movies

Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions

In this documentary concert film we see American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift play through her latest album, Folklore, with the musical team that put it together (including Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff) in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic in person for the first time at the historic Long Pond Studio. While there, the artists also had conversations about the inspiration and process behind each track and what this unprecedented year has been like for them. The film is great for Taylor Swift fans, music-lovers, and anyone looking for a casual viewing film with great music and stellar songwriting. Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions can be watched on Disney+.

Music

Tori Kelly, 25th

Every holiday season a slew of singers release Christmas singles and/or albums and this year has been no exception! Tori Kelly released her Christmas album A Tori Kelly Christmas back in late October, but one single from the album (25th) hadn't caught my attention until recently when the official music video was released this past Wednesday and Tori performed it at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday. The video looks like a Paper Source Christmas ad (not sure if they have those stores in every part of the U.S. 🤷🏻‍♀️) and the song is one that you can add to your holiday playlist and listen to on repeat while putting up your Christmas decorations. 25th can be listened to on Spotify and most other music streaming platforms. I will also be adding it to my Mac Weekly Highlight Playlist on Spotify.

Movies

USS Christmas

Another week, another Hallmark Christmas movie! USS Christmas premiered this past weekend on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel as a part of #MiraclesofChristmas. It followed the story of Maddie, a newsreporter who goes on a Christmastime Tiger Cruise (a journey at sea designed for Navy family members to spend time with their active duty relatives/see what their life is like on the ship). While at sea, Maddie uncovers the potential for a story and even finds herself writing a love story of her own. USS Christmas will be airing again on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel on December 2nd and a few other times throughout the season.

This coming Thursday I'll be releasing my third featured article of the holiday season; Greetings From...Springfield, MA and Bright Nights at Forest Park! It's the perfect way to celebrate National Christmas Lights Day which is December 1st. 🎄
